More fakers!!!

Okay, I don’t know what it is, but more and more fakers are coming out of the woodwork.  I think since my last post I had about 4 more guys claiming to be in the army.  I may have said this before but it I’ve read they target women over 50 and who are lonely.  Well, this chick isn’t lonely or desperate.  But of course they don’t know that.  J

I have another one today who claims to be in the army.  I’ll let him tell me all about himself and then I’ll slap him with my story about how many guys on here have said they are in the army and really aren’t.

Again, this is disgrace to our military men and women.

I have a great idea on a dating website.  No written profiles!!  It should be videos.  You have to record a video of yourself where you talk about yourself.  What better way to show who you are.  I think you would get a better picture of the person and hear their voice and hear them speak.  Being fake would be harder.  I know some will try but maybe this would slow them down.  I love this idea.  I work in the IT department I should see if anyone is interested in creating a sight like this and I could run it.  Any takers?  I’m serious!!!!!

Last week's scammer

Okay, so here is my story from last week.

I got a message from a guy on POF and he was cute (they always are).  He sent me a message that he likes my pictures and wanted to get to know me.  He said he was in the Army stationed in Afghanistan and that he was retiring in a month.  Heard that before.  So I messaged him back and asked if he was really in the army or was he yanking my chain.  I told him that I heard from several guys on here who claim to be in the army and really aren’t.  So I waited for his response.  He said why would he have a reason to try lie.  So I gave him a chance but still didn’t believe him.  So I asked where he grew up in St. Louis.  He said he was born in Ohio and moved to St. Louis two years ago.  I asked how what was the time difference between Afghanistan and St. Louis.  I waited and waited.  No answer.  I went back to look at his profile and it was gone.  Actually he probably blocked me.  He didn’t know the time difference obviously because he wasn’t in Afghanistan.

I’m getting really good at spotting them.  Here are some hints to look for when you get a message from someone who says they are in the Army:

·       As soon as he says he is in the military and on a peace keeping mission, he isn’t really.

·       On their profiles you will only see one picture and they only have no siblings.

·       When you chat with them their parents are already deceased.

·       When they say they are from St. Louis, ask them what high school they went to.  As you know this is famous St. Louis question.  If they can’t answer that, they aren’t from here and are lying.  But sometime they do their homework give you the name of one that is here.

·       They say they have one child and a family friend or maid is taking care of them.  (Or a nanny).

If you can get a screen shot of their profile so you can post their pictures on the military romance scammers facebook page.  I put that link in a previous posting.

Web sites you should check out

I found some websites that has been very helpful in seeing if some of these guys are scammers.

The first one is:

This gives you steps to go through to check people out.  It is free.

This one you can upload the picture and if they it, it will pop up.  It will also pull up other pictures that are similar.

Here is a facebook page that is all about the military scammers.

This one shows pictures used most frequently in scams:

Plenty of Fish (POF)

Then I moved on to Plenty of Fish (POF).

I have several POF stories but I have to tell you the one that just happened this week.

So I go through the pictures and profiles and saw a guy who looked cute and had a decent profile.  So I figured what the heck I’ll send a flirt.  He responded back right away and we exchanged several messages over 2 days.  He said he was in the army special forces and right now he was stationed in St. Louis.  He is from Valley Park.  My first question I asked is what high school he went too.  He told me JFK High School.  So I checked and that high school is in St. Louis.  Okay, so that may be true.  As we chatted he mentioned be stationed here and I should have asked where, instead I said oh are you at Jefferson Barracks and he said yes.  My goof there.  Supposedly he has an 8 year old daughter who lives in KC and is being taken of while he is here.  He said his wife was killed in a car accident five years ago.  So a day later he says I should get a google account and get hangout app on my phone and we could message through there, so I finally get it and we exchanged messages.  The next day we messaged and I was still skeptical.  The messages he was sending weren’t making any sense.  I sent him a list of 10 questions and he answers them all.  I asked what he does and he gave a very long and detailed explanation.  I thought well maybe he is who he said he is but he could have gotten all that info on the internet.  Of course the compliments started about how I am the most beautiful thing he has seen in the last years.  During the conversation he asked me 3 times what I was doing.  I told him the same thing every time.  So he sent this message:  “It’s getting late over here, just need to check on the refugees once more, give some report and I’ll talk to you later.”  My eyes lit up.  So I asked him if there were refugees at JB?  He said for now.  I checked and there are none there.  It is the home of the National Guard.  So here is where I nail him in his lies.  This is what I wrote back to him:

“Are you really in St. Louis or are you yanking my chain?  I’m not being rude but I’ve run into a couple of guys on here who say they are in the military and really aren’t.”  He response was:  “omg.  Seriously?”  I respond back:  “Yes, I found first one on a website about this kind of thing.  His picture was there.  I wasn’t hurt or mad.  Just don’t want to waste me time.”  He said ok.  I wrote back that I just want honesty.”

Guess what?  I never head back from him and this was from a day ago.  And he conveniently blocked me from seeing him POF.  I know this because a co worker has the app and she said she saw him on the day before.

Now I did google him everywhere and nothing came up.

Tip 4:  When you don’t find them on the internet, chances are he is using a fake name.  Everyone who has a smart phone or internet access has their foot print out there.  So if you google and can’t find anything?  It’s a fake name.

The next site I tried is Our Time for people over 50.  I signed up for one month.  The second day I was on it my account got hacked.  Oh great.  So that Monday I was able to get it back by calling the company.  Nothing bad happened.  Our Time noticed something wasn’t right so they shut down my profile.  Kudos to them for catching that.  No personal info is in there so I don’t have to worry.  Just had to change my password.  One bad thing about Our Time is their sight is so slow and has lots of ads.

I got a message from a guy.  I messaged back.  His profile says he lives in St. Louis but he said he was in Atlanta GA for six months.  He makes jewelry.  He says it takes him all around the world because he personally delivers it.  Hmm.  Suspicious to you?  It was to me.  Of course I googled him and didn’t find anything.  My first suspicion is he was using a fake name.  I could be wrong.  Not likely though.  We exchanged a few more emails and he asked for my phone number.  NOPE!  Not gonna happen.  I had told him about my scammer story and he was eager to talk to me.  He wouldn’t answer any of the questions I asked too.  Okay, scammer.  So I emailed him back and said I wasn’t ready to give out my number and maybe I wasn’t ready for this.  (I can be nice).  He was nice and said he understood.  No more contact since.

I want someone close to my age!!!! Is that so hard????

So one night I was online and I got a message to chat so I clicked yes.  This guy was 61 (I’m 53 soon to be 54).  He seemed nice but he was too old (I guess it’s the cougar in me coming out).  He wrote a very nice email.  He was from Sweden (I think).   His kids were grown and I think he said he lived in Fenton (if that’s true).  He then tells me how lonely he is.  OMG!!  He would definitely smother my groove.  So I politely emailed him back and told I was looking for someone closer to my age and good luck in his search.  Well he emails me back and says age is nothing and goes on and on and once again mentions how lonely he was.  So I blocked his email so he couldn’t email me and blocked him on the site.  Done.

I get another email from a lady who has a friend who also saw my profile and thought I was beautiful.  Give me a break.  She tells me all these wonderful things about him and I should surprise him and email him.  Okay, what the heck.  This will make a great story for my blog.  I email him.  He emailed back with pictures.  TOO OLD!!!!!!  He was very nice but I just never responded back and he didn’t write back either.  So that’s good.

Part 2

A few days later I get a message from a guy on Match he said he met someone from here and is getting married next month but he said his friend was looking over his shoulder and saw my picture on the site and thought I was gorgeous.  He said I should surprise him and contact him.  He gave me his email.  I thought about it and though sure what the heck.  So I emailed him.

He was very surprised to hear from me and glad.  He sends a very nice email and tells me all about him.  Once again going on about how beautiful I am.  (I know I know).  We exchanged a few emails.  Of course he lives in Canada.  What a surprise.  I googled and him didn’t find out a whole lot about him but he did really live in Canada.  Well one night I emailed him back and told him about the scammer I encountered.  What a surprise but I never heard from him again.  Hmm.  Another scammer?  Who knows?  Who cares?
That’s when I thought I should really do a blog about this.  I thought maybe this would get me on the Ellen Degeneres show and she could set it up so I could meet Chris Pratt and Chris Evans.  Okay, I am getting off track here.  Chris and Chris are my cougar crushes.  (Oh yeah Channing Tatum too).

My hairdresser Debbie loved my stories.  Every time I would go in she would ask if I had any stories and so I would tell her.  She and I would laugh the whole time I was there.  She agreed I needed to do a blog.

This was really getting hilarious.  So now this was an experiment for me.  But I in no way would hurt any man or lead them on.  If I would meet someone fine but I would document all this for my blog.

My Online Dating Stories...

Okay, so I started a little project in August and decided to start a blog about it.  After breaking up with my last boyfriend in 2011 I took time to be selfish and not date anyone.  It was good.  Then I thought I think I’m ready to get back out there, though my daughter isn’t ready for me too.  Anyway, here is my story and yes it’s all true.  I am not putting down any sites either.  I am sure all of them have their success stories and do work.  I work with a girl who met her fiancĂ© on e-harmony.  Now I’m NOT looking for a husband but I would like someone to go out with.  So as I share my story I will add in tips.  So are you ready?  Here we go….

First off I want to say that I in NO WAY are playing any games with the men I email with.  I am sincere.  I know there are good guys out there who are honest and I hope to meet one soon.  But my stories are too funny not to share.

I starting looking at profiles on the sites to see what’s out there and my first thing I realized is “Man these guys who are supposedly my age sure look old.”  I don’t know maybe I look old but I sure don’t feel it.  I’ve been told I don’t look my age.  I definitely don’t act it.  (Only when I have too).

The first site I joined was Catholic  Since I’m catholic I thought it would be a good place to start.  There were some okay looking guys, some really cute ones and some that shouldn’t publish their picture.  (Sorry but it’s true).  Now I am a very liberal Catholic and the majority of these guys were all Christian conservatives.  Nothing wrong with that but not interested.  One night I went into the chatroom just to check things out.  There was a political discussion going on.  I should have left but continued to read the comments.  I finally made one about me voting for Hillary.  Man did I get slammed.  It was actually very funny.  Anyway, after a few minutes of being dumped on I just left the room and laughed.  I visited the site for a few weeks.  Sending messages to some of them who sounded interesting.  Never heard back.  That’s okay.
Tip #1:  Guys, take better pictures of yourselves.  Some of them look like mug shots.  The only thing missing is a number under your picture.  SMILE!!  Make yourself look like you want to be there and you are serious about wanting to meet a woman.  If you can’t take the picture have someone do it for you.  Hell I'll do it for you for free.  Make sure the pictures are clear and not tiny.  Wear something decent.  And please keep your shirt on for the picture.  If you have your shirt off that tells me one thing (and I could be wrong) that you just want sex.  And take several pictures.  I don’t want to see a picture of your motorcycle or car unless you are with it.  And I don’t want to see scenery pictures from all the places you visited.  I don’t care where you’ve been.  You’re just showing off.  And don't post pictures of you with other women.  I can't believe some guys do this.  UGH!!!  And remember SMILE!!!!
So the next site I tried was  I heard a lot of good stuff about it so I signed up for one month.  Well as soon as I signed up I got several hits.  One guy from Kansas City sent me a message.  We chatted online for a few minutes.  But he lives in KC and I am in no way moving for anyone.  I love St. Louis.  I was born here and I’ll die here.  He seemed nice.  Then I got a message from another guy.  He was in the Army stationed in Syria on a peace keeping mission.  Ladies, as soon you as see that line, run.  Keeping running and don’t look back.  They are a scammer.  But at the time I didn’t know that.  We emailed back and forth and I got real suspicious.  For a guy who doesn’t know me, he said so many sweet things and tells me how beautiful I am.  (Well I know that I am).  I would ask questions in my emails and not all of them would get answered.  He would avoid them.  I got suspicious.  He said he was retiring from the Army in 2 months and that he would move anywhere for the right girl.  (I don’t want you to move to my town.  I want you to have your own friends.  Don’t smother me).  So, since his email gave his first and last name I googled him.  This is an amazing tool.

Tip #2:  Ladies, get their full name if you can and google them.  Be a detective.  It’s amazing what you can find on the internet.

So when I googled him it took me to a site where they list guys faking being in the military.  Guess what?  This guy’s picture was right there.  I read they are usually from foreign countries and get you hooked online so later you will wire them money.  LOL!!!  I have no money.  Well as soon as I read this I sent him the following email:  “I read about you online and no longer wish you hear from you.  Never contact me again.”  And of course he didn’t.  Because I caught him in his game.

This makes our men and women in the military look bad.  They aren't!!!  It's the idiots posing as them.
Tip #3:  Ladies, never give out bank account information or wire money to someone you’ve never met or know.  It even says this on the dating website.  LISTEN!!!

Of course when I went back to the site his profile was gone.  What a surprise.

I have more funny stories to share.  So please follow my blog, post, ask questions, offer advice and suggestions.  I want everyone to be able to share their crazy stores or their friends stories.

More to follow…
